Truth be told, Georgia runs deep in my veins. After all, I grew up in Columbus, Georgia and it's the dot on the map where I discovered my appreciation for food -- no matter where it came from (my mother's kitchen or my favorite BBQ joint). If you listen and watch closely, you'll remember your food experiences more than others: my grandmama humming in the kitchen as she cooked our supper. Thanksgiving dinners and the laughter you overheard as the women folk buzzed around in the kitchen. Remembering the taste of your most favorite recipe that only one person could make after they are long gone from this world. Arguments over which mayonnaise to use in chicken salad (some folks will go the mat with you on this one). Food reminds me of home. Food reminds me of love. Food makes me appreciate what I have and want to work hard so that others have it too.

In my professional life, I've been lucky to combine my love for food with my need to keep moving at a fast pace by marketing the largest Epicurean/Healthy Lifestyle publication across the nation. Cooking Light magazine was an awesome ride that ended in December (due to a corporate restructure I couldn't avoid any longer). So, here I am at a crossroads of sorts and feeling confident in my ability to see it through and find new and exciting things to do with my time.

FoodRevival is an outlet for me to do what I love most: talk and write about food, meet new folks, share information, exchange recipes, and connect with my community. Though I appreciate the ease of supermarket shopping (being born in 1977 sort of lends itself to that), I want to know more about what I’m eating. I’m interested in food safety, but I also want to know the stories, history, and tradition behind the food. I’m incredibly satisfied living in Alabama during a much-needed time of change and I believe Birmingham can be better. I hope FoodRevival sparks some change by highlighting and thanking the hard-working folks that contribute to our land, economy, nourishment, and overall community.
